There is nothing more beautiful or more challenging than being a woman. Let's be honest. Yes, it's amazing at times, but it is also incredibly hard at others. The truth is, women are struggling to find their identity in a world full of chaos that challenges us to fit the mold dictated by culture instead of the identity given to us at creation. So many women have lost their way and don't really know who they are. They've been marred by wounds and victimization. They think they're "less than" so they rise up and cry out to proclaim who they will be. This is not the heart or very essence of who we really are.
When God created us in His image, there was no detail left undone. He not only wanted us to be captivating but powerful. Despite what you've been told, God had intentions for you from the beginning of time and those intentions change the world! As I wrote my award winning book on marriage, "Chaos in the Castle or Peace in the Palace?" I was shocked by what I learned that I had never been told by the school, the culture, the women's movement, and even the church despite it's love of people.
The key is searching out the truth in the original language spoken over us from the beginning of time. We have to understand God said amazing things about us when woman was created. Then he sent his son to live out his love for us as women. Jesus showed up and spoke up for the prostitute, the orphan, the barren, the woman with the issue of blood, and the wounded women of his day. Why? Because he knew who we were created to be despite who we had become because of our circumstances. He loved us and he desired for our destiny to be fulfilled no matter what the world had to say.
To understand the identity of "woman," we have to go back to the garden before the roses wilted. God created marriage for man and woman to become one flesh and complete each other's design. In that design we are made in his three part image. He is Father (Godhead), Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit. We are a part of that same design.
What role does the king of our palace play?
According to Ephesians 5:23, man was formed to be the noble leader who makes great decisions. The one at the top who oversees the benefits and blessings of life just like God the Father does. He is protector, using his unemotional wisdom to create strategic battle plans to defeat the enemy. He is provider. In the nature of every man is the desire to labor and bring home provision for the love of his life. This is the role God designed just for the king of our home.
Ephesians 5:25 says husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church and laid down his life for it. Husbands are not only called to lead but to lead sacrificially. God challenged them to go to the ends of the earth and relinquish their lives, if required. Just as Jesus commanded the winds and waves to be still, husbands stand in the storm with arms outstretched holding back the cyclones, keeping everyone safe. A husband is called to be the knight in shining armor who wars for his family no matter what it costs him, even unto death.
Who is Woman?
She represents the Holy Spirit! In scripture, the Holy Spirit represents the most powerful force sent by God to empower man. That means "woman" is a magnificent gift of power given from the heart of God placed in the arms of man. Genesis 2:8 says, "It is not good for man to be alone." We are beautiful and delicate like a breeze, yet powerful and strong like a mighty rushing wind and we can empower the king of our home to stand on the battlefield of life and conquer the world as we stand beside him and war with him.
What are the characteristics of the Holy Spirit that empower us as women?
Never forget the unique role you've been given as a woman. When we understand who we are and who God created us to be, everything in our life changes. We no longer have to declare our power or position, we walk in our power and position. We don't have to march on Washington to tell the world who we are. The world will know who we are. Embracing your noble identity will empower you to become the captivating, motivating, world changing woman you've been created to be!
