With Christmas just around the corner, I thought I'd share something you might want to add to your Wish List for Christmas!
Even if you don't like to cook, this appliance could change your mind. I came across one a few years back at a discount store and since the price was so great I thought I'd give it a shot. Believe it or not, it's the George Foreman Grill. Yes, that's right even a boxing star understood the value of the idea in his head. I am now on my second grill. I used the first one so much I wore it out!
Here's why I love it. First, it is the one appliance that has impacted my life in the kitchen the most over any other small appliance. This thing changed my life. Second, it cooks quickly and the food is amazing. The key is cooking chicken breasts, bacon, fish, or hamburgers while they are still frozen. This means, if you are running behind on dinner and have forgotten to thaw the meat, no worries, just use the Foreman Grill and cook the meat frozen. It's juicier that way.
Another reason to love the Foreman is the health benefits it provides. Believe it or not, the microwave is terrible for your health. Studies have shown that this way of cooking changes the cellular make up of the food thus creating the possibility of affecting overall health and even causing cancer. Cancer patients are told not to microwave their food. So, the Foreman is the next best thing. It cooks quickly and the fat runs off into the storage container.
We love bacon at our house. Only the non-cured, no chemical kind, but never the less, bacon. If you've ever cooked bacon, one of its issues is it shrinks and it curls, making it hard to get completely done and this is never a great idea. Bacon should always be fully cooked. With the Foreman, the bacon stays flat, the grease runs off, and the taste is yummy crispy bacon!
This appliance has also reduced the frequency of needing to clean my stove top. Who likes splattered grease? Even worse, who likes to have to clean up the spattered grease? We have a gas stove which means the space all around the burners gets really dirty and has to be cleaned on a regular basis if I've cooked something greasy like bacon or hamburgers. There's no mess with the Foreman Grill. If you choose the "slanted down" model, which I highly recommend, then the grease runs down the grill and into the plastic catcher, alleviating splattering and spills.
The other great thing about this appliance is it plugs right into a normal power outlet thus reducing the amount of gas or electricity needed to run a regular stove. It's non-stick and easy to wipe clean. I have to admit, just like the grills in the restaurants we eat in, I don't clean the gill after every meal because it only increases the flavor of the meat next time you grill. Finally, in the cold hard winter when it's too cold to get outside and grill, use the Foreman. It's warm and cozy inside and you still get the flavor of grilled meat.
So get out that Wish List girls and add this one to the top. It will make your life easier in the kitchen so you will actually have more time to accomplish some of those new years resolutions! After all, January is just around the corner.
