Our wives can be on the road so much that their car is the last thing that gets any attention.  Surprise your wife and get all your children together to do a mobile makeover for mom.  Have one person wash her car, another vacuum, another wash the windows, wax and detail.  If your children are already out of the house or you don't have children, you can do the job yourself or take it to a car wash and let them detail it to the max.  In any case, your wife will appreciate you taking care of her and her car.

Life goes by at such a fast pace that we often forget to express gratitude to the ones we love.  Take time this week to get alone. Spend time thinking about all the things you appreciate in your wife.  Write them down and thank God as you remember each one individually. Spend this week finding ways to let her know how grateful you are for all she does for you and for who she is as a person.

We can be married for years and still miss out on knowing the most basic things about each other. Sometimes without realizing it, we miss the details.  Share with each other about some of your favorite things. Use this list as a starting point, get creative and have some fun. Tell each other your favorite or for even more fun guess what your spouse will say:

• Color
• Food
• Song
• Candy
• Flower
• Outfit
• Restaurant
• Vacation
• Childhood memory
• Your family memory
• and so on...

Take notes so you don't forget. This list can be handy when you have a special occasion.

Give your wife a night out with the girls.  Take care of everything at home including the children.  Let her forget about her responsibilities and get some me time with her friends. 

Don't let the romance end tonight on Valentine's Day. Plan a few surprises this week that your wife won't expect: a candlelight dinner, a small gift, a card. Spend extra time planning and make this year something your wife will remember.

Find at least one night to getaway with your wife to celebrate your relationship.  Lydia and I just got back from three nights together in an Air BnB that was long overdue. Just being away from every day life and focusing on each other is important to recharge, reignite, and resurrect. 

Take a night to enjoy a movie together, either in a theater if one is open near you, or stream one at home.  Whatever you choose to watch, spend time discussing the movie after it is over.

2020 is behind us.  Most of the bills are in and it is a good time to review expenses and income for the past year.  Determine where you did well and where you need to improve. Set some goals for 2021 and create your budget.  Perhaps you want to pay off debt,  save more for college or retirement,  or go on a dream vacation.  Work together with your wife to make your plan.  If you need help in budgeting, Dave Ramsey has some great materials and courses to help.

Write your wife a note asking her for a date.  Include a place for her to respond "yes" or "no".  Leave the note on her pillow.  Plan a romantic evening somewhere you know she will like. Take care of all the details, including care for the children.

As the holidays are coming to an end, don't let all the clean up fall on your wife.  Take the lead and get the whole family involved in putting up the decorations, cleaning the house, and starting the new year right.  It is a good time to go through your storage area and get rid of things you don't need.  Don't forget to store lights neatly so you don't spend half of your next December untangling them :)
